Pro-Morsy students protest against Friday sermon restrictions

A dozen members of the Students Against the Coup movement staged protests in Beni Suef on Monday against a decision to restrict Friday prayers.

Demonstrators gathered outside the home of Endowments Minister Mohamed Mokhtar in the Beni Suef village of Saft Rashin, condemning a decision to prohibit Friday prayers in smaller mosques and restricting sermons to no more than 20 minutes.

The protesters reportedly roamed the village, chanting slogans against what they called Egypt's “coup” and carrying images of deposed President Mohamed Morsy.
