Five individuals were detained in Beni Suef for four days pending investigation into charges of throwing rocks at the police during a protest outside the governorate headquarters on Wednesday.

Around 70 protesters staged a demonstration demanding employment at the Ministry of Education. Brigadier General Ashraf Omran claimed that protesters began throwing rocks at police forces who had been sent to secure the building. Police then used tear gas to disperse the demonstrators.

Four security personnel were injured and transferred to the Beni Suef Public Hospital.
