Tourism drops from bomb blasts and Russian ruble decline

The recent bomb blasts and the decline in the Russian ruble have led to a drop in the number of tourists coming to Egypt.

Sami Mahmoud, head of the Tourism Promotion Authority, said he asked the branches abroad to prepare a daily report on this issue. “North Sinai is not a tourist destination, but the bombings there affect tourism as a whole,” he said. “Cairo, Luxor and Aswan have been affected.”

“These are not real bombs. They just make the sound of an explosion,” he said. “But the media abroad calls them bombs. Our media must clarify this.”

“The blasts have so far made tourists postpone their trips but not cancel them,” he said.
