3D sound and light show Thursday at Qaitbay Citadel

Egypt’s Antiquities Minister Mamdouh al-Damaty is inaugurating a 3D light show Thursday, which will be displayed on the façade of the historical Qaitbay Citadel in Alexandria.

The show, "Legendary Cleopatra", is part of a European Union-funded program called Cross-Border Cooperation in The Mediterranean (ENPI CBCMED), which is designed to promote tourist and cultural heritage sites.

Partners from Egypt, Italy, Jordan, Palestine, Tunisia, Spain and Lebanon have all contributed to the 3 million euro program.

"The show, organized under I AM project by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities, will be projected on the façade of the Qaitbey Citadel from 7:00 pm and be repeated every 25 minutes," the project said on its website. "The show will depict the story of the legendary Cleopatra while offering a unique experience to viewers, combining sound and lighting effects with virtual and digital elements."
