Al-Sisi inspects mega national projects

President Abdel Fattah Al -Sisi inspected the progress of work in a number of mega national projects.

The President called on officials and companies, which are supervised by the Armed Forces engineering corps, to expedite the implementation of these projects so that they may be inaugurated with the New Suez Canal on the sixth of August 2015.

During the tour, the President first inspected the new civilian airport, western Cairo which will serve the western Nile governorate with the aim of easing pressure on Cairo International Airport.

The new airport will absorb 1.7 million passengers annually  at a rate of 200 passengers per hour and includes the establishment of  two key runways for landing and taking off together with a number of auxiliary runways and a power plant for upgrading the capacity from 3-l0 megawatts.

The President hailed the role of the Armed Forces in achieving comprehensive development and upgrading services offered to the civil sector in cooperation with executing national companies in terms of cutting short the period of implementation to one third and costs to less than half.

President Sisi underlined the importance of big national projects for achieving development, backing national economy, creating jobs and improving living standards. He said Egypt is in race against time adding for this reason he is calling for cutting short the period of implementing these projects with the aim of serving the interests of the people and improving the living standards of citizens who have suffered for a long time.

The President then moved to northeastern Cairo where he inspected a project for establishing another civilian airport for serving the new administrative capital.

During his inspection tour, Sisi stressed the importance of facilitating the movement of civil aviation to serve the new administrative capital and adjacent areas of Cairo. He also met with workers at public and private companies, which are contributing to those projects. He praised efforts exerted by the companies, which helped significantly reduce the total cost of the projects.

Sisi then inspected a project for establishing Al Galala city in Ain Sukhna. Major General Kamel Waziry explained the details of the project, which includes the establishment of an 85 kilometer road for linking Ain Sukhna to Zaafarana highway in new Bani Swaif.

Sisi then witnessed the bombing of rock layers to establish a road in Galala plateau and inspected the ongoing work to turn the plateau into a tourist attraction, link it to the shores of the Red Sea and establish a medical city and a university bearing the name of late Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz.

The tour also included inspecting the new road network, which will contribute to creating one million jobs and aims to link the Suez Canal with many Egyptian cities.

On his way back, the President inspected the progress of work on the New Suez Canal project in preparation for inaugurating the project on August 6.

During the tour, the President was accompanied by Armed Forces commanders, chairmen of operating companies and media men.
