Army spokesperson: 12 jihadists killed in North Sinai crackdown

The armed forces launched a crackdown in North Sinai Friday where 12 jihadists were killed, 11 suspects
arrested, 36 houses and 40 militant safehouses were destroyed, according to armed forces spokesperson Mohamed Samir on Saturday.
 
The raids resulted in the destruction of an SUV and the killing of five militants who were in the vehicle in Sheikh Zuwaid, as well as the killing of seven others in an exchange of fire with the the security forces.
Eleven suspects were arrested, he added. 
 
The operation was in the villages of Altoma, Tagamu Abu Aita, Ethel Abu Maharb, Tagamu Abu Malhos, Aljmiei, Agra, Mahdia, and Lofitat, said Samir.
 
Samir mentioned 36 houses, 40 vehicles, five safehouses and 12 motorcycles allegedly belonging to the militants were destroyed.
