Egyptian delegation to visit Israel for talks

A delegation from Egypt’s Foreign Ministry will travel to Israel on Sunday to discuss a prisoner exchange, among other issues, official Israeli sources said on Wednesday.

The sources told DPA that the delegation will discuss the extradition of Israeli citizen Ouda Tarabin in exchange for 63 Egyptians imprisoned by Israel. Israeli radio quoted government sources as saying that the delegation will also mull a new headquarters for the Israeli Embassy in Cairo and discuss joint Qualifying Industrial Zones in Egypt.

Tarabin is an Israeli Bedouin who was arrested 12 years ago while crossing the border into Egypt. He was accused of spying for Israel.

A high-ranking Israeli delegation presided over by Bashir Abraham, a foreign ministry official, arrived in Egypt Wednesday for talks with several officials.
