Head of CCHE denies Suzanne Mubarak embezzled hospital donations

Head of Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt (CCHE), Dr. Sherif Abouel Naga, denied allegations that former first lady Suzanne Mubarak embezzled money from donations to the hospital.

During the first board meeting, Abouel Naga rejected a suggestion by one of the doctors to name the hospital after Mrs. Mubarak, and insisted on the name 57357, the bank account through which the hospital receives donations

Abouel Naga said it was his responsibility to collect donations and that the first lady did not interfere in the issue.

CCHE is one of the biggest children’s hospitals in the world specializing in children’s cancer treatments. The hospital was built by donations collected in a major campaign.

In June, Attorney General Abdel Meguid Mahmoud, referred a report filed against the former first lady to prosecution for investigating allegations that she seized money from hospital donations into secret accounts.
