Minister: Tests on drivers addiction ongoing

The social solidarity minister and the chairman of the anti-addiction fund, Ghada Waly, said that the committee on the early detection of drug addiction among drivers continues to work in many governorates inspecting drivers.

Approximately 800 drivers in Greater Cairo, Alexandria and Minya have been tested, she added.

Drug addiction among Alexandria drivers was recorded at 12 percent. Hashish addicts came first with 36.3 percent, followed by Tramadol addicts with 27.2 percent. In Greater Cairo, addiction among school bus drivers reached 5 percent and in Minya 1.5 percent, said Waly.

The minister has renewed her call on Egyptian families to communicate with the ministry on their  hotline 08002200022, allocated to receiving complaints about addicts of school bus drivers.
