Mubarak sons and Adly to be moved to Sharm el-Sheikh

The Ministry of Interior is preparing to move Alaa and Gamal Mubarak, the sons of the deposed Egyptian president, together with former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly, to Sharm el-Sheikh for trial, according to security sources.

The sources said that in cooperation with the armed forces, the ministry will move the defendants from Tora Prison in Cairo to a prison in the city of Tur in South Sinai.

An Egyptian court on Monday postponed Adly’s trial to 3 August, and ordered that the case be annexed to that of Mubarak and his sons.

Hosni Mubarak, his two sons, and Adly are accused of killing protesters during the January uprising. The former president is also charged with misappropriating public funds and selling natural gas to Israel at reduced prices.

A security official said the defendants would be flown to Sharm el-Sheikh on board military planes, as the police do not possess planes of their own.
