Pilots backtrack on resignations

The board of the Pilots Association withdrew the collective resignations filed Thursday in response to a call from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the association said in a statement Friday.

The association added that the pilots withdrew their resignations out of respect for EgyptAir interests, pointing out that not a single plane was suspended due to the strike.

The association board stressed that the pilots have no financial demands since the beginning of the crisis, adding that EgyptAir pilots hold the highest level of patriotism.

About 250 pilots submitted their resignations in protest against the new financial regulations which they described as unfair. They had noted that several other pilots in different subsidiaries were paid more for the same position.
