Rafah border crossing open for 2 days

The Rafah border crossing was exceptionally opened on Monday to provide aid for people in Gaza, says an informed source.

In remarks to the state-run news agency MENA, the source said, “Stranded people and those with humanitarian cases have started to arrive. Measures are being finalized according to the Egyptian authorities' decision to open the crossing exceptionally on Monday and Tuesday to allow for the passage of the stranded, to help those with special needs well and to deliver aid into Gaza.”

The border was closed following a deadly attack on a security checkpoint in Sinai on 24 October. Access is granted periodically for the stranded and for the delivery of aid.
