SCAF postpones meeting with presidential hopefuls

Egypt's ruling military council on Tuesday postponed a meeting it had scheduled with potential presidential candidates.

The news website Dostour reported that the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces postponed the meeting without giving a reason after invitations had been sent.

The website added that presidential hopefuls Mohamed ElBaradei, Amr Moussa, Ayman Nour, Hesham el-Bastawisi and Hamdeen Sabbahi were among those invited, as well as representatives from 28 political parties, including Freedom and Justice, Wafd, Ghad, Nasserite, Nour and others.

The meeting reportedly intended to tackle upcoming elections and how to form the committee that will draft the new constitution.

Other news reports on Wednesday said the meeting was postponed indefinitely.
