Trial of former presidential chief of staff adjourned to March

Cairo Criminal Court on Tuesday adjourned the trial of former presidential chief of staff Zakariya Azmy, his wife and her brother to 10 March.

The three are accused of abusing power and generating illicit gains amounting to LE42 million.

The court heard testimonies of the head of Al-Ahram’s general department for building affairs, who said Al-Ahram used to send gifts to senior officials, including Azmy.

The witness added that the gifts were chosen by the chairman of Al-Ahram.

Between 2006 and 2011, Azmy received gifts the valuing LE1.4 million, the witness said.
