Egypt team manager Ibrahim Hassan receives official apology; US officer removed after hotel altercation

A US police officer has issued a formal apology to Ibrahim Hassan, the manager of the Egyptian national football team, following an altercation at the team’s residence hotel in Dallas, Texas, on Thursday.

The incident began shortly after the Pharaohs arrived in Dallas on Thursday morning to prepare for their World Cup clash against Australia.

The confrontation arose when Hassan intervened to protest the aggressive behavior of hotel security and local police toward a young child and several fans who were trying to take photos with the players—specifically in the lobby where winger Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” was interacting with a young supporter.

Seeking to resolve the issue, the involved US police officer and the hotel general manager met with Ibrahim Hassan to offer an official apology. Meanwhile, a second police officer who was heavily involved in the altercation was ordered to leave the premises and was permanently replaced by another security officer.

A source within the national team confirmed that the minor dispute was swiftly resolved on-site with local security representatives. The source emphasized that the incident was merely a result of overzealous security handling enthusiastic Egyptian fans and did not impact the team’s focus ahead of their historic match against Australia on Friday.
