Interpol to catch Assem Abdel Magued: Foreign Minister

Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy said on Tuesday, that the issue of Assem Abdel Magued, a leading member of Jama’a al-Islamiya, who is on the run in Qatar, would be dealt with through the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), since it is a judicial matter at the end of the day.

Abdel Magued appeared on Qatari news channel Al-Jazeera last week. This is his first public appearance since the dispersal of the pro-Morsy sit-ins in Rabea al-Adaweya and Nahda on 14 August.

Abdel Magued said in his interview that the Egyptian scene is very saddening, after the army ousted the elected president, Mohamed Morsy.

He added that the army made a big mistake when it sided with the minority in Egypt, and it must review its position as the country has become on the edge of the abyss.
