President Mohamed Morsy asked his spokesperson to call Elham Shahin, a prominent actress accused by Salafi preacher Abdallah Badr of committing adultery and immorality on the air, and assure her of his support.
Morsy reportedly said he is against slander and would take legal action against anyone accused of it.
In a recent meeting with actors, Morsy had asked why Shahin was not in attendance and was told she had probably not been invited to the meeting. Morsy reportedly told the actors in the meeting that they play a constructive role in society.
